What will Restaurants be like After Covid

Covid 19 took many businesses into crisis. From Construction to Restaurants. But i feel restaurant industry is one of the top industry which is affected due to the corona virus and i hope there will be drastic changes in the working of many restaurants post covid-19. I know that, may be we have to live with corona.

Let us look at the restaurants in India, only top class restaurants run with proper hygienic measures.All the others serve food , may be good food but the neatness was awkward. The lock down starts by shutting down all the dine in restaurants and only allows take away and delivery.Within a few days, the corona virus started to spread fast as wind. Social distancing was the only measure against it. The nation faces complete lock down, like all businesses, restaurant activities also stopped including take away and delivery. Many lost job, many owners are out of money to pay rent and salary to existing staffs.

Now there are some discounts in lock down and many restaurants started delivery services. But the thing is, many peoples in this industry started to cheat the customers. I got many reports from friends, family and social media that they got very poor quality foods from different restaurants. Dear restaurant owners, please don't open if  you can't deliver proper quality food to your customers. Remember when everything becomes perfect, they will be the one who is going to decide your existence. But i know there are many cafes and restaurants who are operating perfectly in this condition.  Loaf, Tirur and Burgerjunction, Kochi are some of my favourite restaurants who still works with their limited menu in this situation with quality food and safety measures.

To my dear restaurant owners and staffs, remember the words of Jack Ma, If you can stay alive, then you have made a profit already. Don't even talk about your dreams or plans. Convert this hard time to your valuable time by polishing you. Every restaurants will be running with limited staffs after lock down due to financial issues. So there will be chances to only those who can do multiple tasks quickly. If you are a indian chef, try preparing your signature dishes again and again till it reaches its perfect level. Then only you can get a job after this situation.

In my opinions the following are some tips to increase your business after covid-19.
  1. Hire a staff to supply sanitizer to your customers. Just remember your restaurant entry, where your staff welcomes customers by supplying santizers.
  2. Use modern techniques to wash the utensils. Cleaning the plates and utensils is a very important thing in terms of hygiene. Many restaurants are just doing it for a sake. Many star restaurants have the proper setup. I believe sterilizing setups will be a must for the future restaurants.
  3. Use this free time to train your staffs to teach about steward duties and responsibilities. Customers including me like to have a dinner from restaurants who treat us like a king.
  4. If you are a restaurant owner who don't have a cleaning practice in your property, then you are not going to survive. Have cleaning practice daily and deep cleaning once in every week.
  5. Train your staffs to always clean the table properly after every customer eats.
  6. Request your landlord to cut off your rent fot atleast 2-3 months. It will be a great amount for you to come back.
  7. Serve quality tasty foods with proper hygienic measures.
  8. In my opinion, atleast for the next six months after reopening, take away and delivery will be the main source of business. Be prepared with proper packing facilities and delivery facilities.
All these are some measures we can do to stay alive in the restaurant field. Let us hope everything will be back soon.Happy eating.
