Mambazha Pulissery - A simple mango curry

Mangoes are always a part of mallus. Most of us simply eat it and enjoy, but some others, eat it for nostalgia! Sounds funny? How many of your backyards have a mango tree now? Do you remember those time when you pluck the green mangoes by shooting with tiny stones and then cut it with a stone, then just added a pinch of salt .Yummy!! Food is an important part of our memories. 

Mambazha pulissery is a famous traditional dish in kerala. This is a very simple dish to prepare with minimum ingredients. Lets see what all we need to prepare this mouth watering dish :

Ingredients :
Mambazha Pulissery - A simple mango curry
  • Ripened mangoes - 5 nos
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
  • Sliced green chilly - 2 nos
  • Water - as needed
  • Salt - as needed
  • Cocout- 2cups
  • Cummin seeds - 2 pinch
  • Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Curd - 6 cup
  • Coconut Oil - 4 table spoon
  • Mustard seeds - 2 tsp
  • Fenugreek - 1 pinch
  • Red chilly - 2 nos
  • Curry leaves - as needed
How to prepare?

  • Clean the mangoes and peel the skin. Don't cut into pieces, take it as whole.
  • Mix the mangoes , salt , turmeric power , sliced green chillies and water in a vessel.

  • Cook this mixture and wait for boiling.
  • Grind the coconut and cumin seeds to a paste.
  • When the mangoes start boiled add the paste in to the vessel and mix it properly.
  • Add  pepper powder and mix it. Remember the vessel is still on flame.
  • Take the vessel from stove and keep it aside for 5 minutes.
  • Add the curd into it and mix it properly.
  • Add coconut oil to a frying pan and when it becomes hot add mustard seeds and feugreek.
  • When mustard seeds starts crackling , add red chillies and curry leaves.
  • Add this mixture to the mango.
  • Mambazha pulissery is ready.Take a photo.Mix and serve.
