Keto Diet is also called LCHF diet, which means low carb high fat (medium protien) diet. In this process we take very less carbohydrate and replace it with high fat. This reduction in carbs put your body in to a state of metabolism called ketosis. The idea is to get more calories from fat and protien and less calories from carbs.
What is the process?
Most of normal peoples body uses energy from carbs. When we stop taking carbs, our body runs out of energy. It will take 3-4 days. After that your body starts to break down fat and protiens for energy, which can you lose weight. Many people have misunderstanding about keto diet. This diet is only for lossing weight and hence its short term. If one continues keto diet for more months it will affect their body.
What to eat?
Those who follow ketogenic diet should take enough protien in each meal. A one day meal should comprise of 165 grams of fat, 40 grams of carbs and 75 grams of protien. There are lot of applications available in playstore and apple store for calculating the ratio according to each individual.
Fats - nuts, seeds, avocado, tofu, olive, palm oil, coconut oil, lard, butter and cocoa butter.
Protiens - beef, bacon, pork and lean protien foods.
Vegetables and Fruits - Berries, spinach, cauliflower, broccoli, sprouts, asparagus, bell peppers, onions, garlic, mushrooms, cucumber, celery and squashes. The thing is that concentrate on leafy vegetables
Points to note :
1. Keto diet doesnt mean that you should take low amount of food. If you dont take sufficient amount of vegetables and fruits, then there is chance of nutrient deificiency.
2. Liver patients should not take this diet, because these much fat to metabolise will make the liver condition worse.
3. Try to consult a doctor before entering the diet.
4.There will be chance of constipation since is now fibrous foods like grains and legumes.
5. There will chance or confusion and irritability due to lack of sugar intake for brain.
