Where is Gulab Jamun originated?

Small fried balls with smell of warm milk and caramelised sugar,  gulab jamun is the star dessert all over India.  Yes, Ofcourse it is my best too. Have you ever think, where is your favourite dishes originated? One night i suddenly thought where is this gulab jamun invented and searched about it. I found different stories different websites and arrived at an conclusion.

Most of the festivals in India is incomplete with this gabulous sweet. But we have to digest the fact that gulab jamun is not originated in India. This favourite dish hails from Persia. I think this sweet is introduced to India with the invasion of Mughal Emperors.  I also read like, it was first prepared by the personal persian chef of Shah Jahan but there i so no evidence. And also that chef is a persian too, so i believe that it is originated in Persia.

Now we can talk about its name. The word 'Gulab' was derived from persian words 'gol' and 'ab' which means flower and water which refers to rose water scented syrup and the other word 'Jamun' is the hindi -urude word for black plum which is almost in round shape.

I am a person who likes to start a new day by having some sweets. Some of you like to have this hot but i like to have this with some ice creams. That sugar syrup, a piece of gulab jamun and a little ice cream does the magic. Comment your favourite dessert and where is it originated.
